My Car Buddy Privacy Policy

Effective June 26, 2026.

My Car Buddy is the friendly way to stay on top of car care — add your vehicle, get maintenance reminders, and keep your service history in one place. It's operated under My Car Buddy. We keep this short and honest.

Information we collect

• Account: the email and password you sign up with (handled by Google Firebase Authentication). You can also continue as a guest, which creates an anonymous account tied only to your device.
• Your vehicles & maintenance data: the vehicles, mileage, parts, service records, reminders, and expenses you enter.
• Photos (optional): any images you attach to a vehicle or record.
• Location (optional): if you use "find a mechanic" and grant permission, your location is used to show nearby shops. You can decline or turn it off in your device settings.
• Basic technical data: standard app/Firebase logs (device type, timestamps) used to keep the app running and secure.

How we use your information

We use your information only to provide the app — to store and display your vehicles, predict part wear, send maintenance and inspection reminders, and keep your service history. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Subscriptions

If you buy an optional subscription, the purchase is processed by the app store (Google Play or Apple) and managed through our payments provider (RevenueCat). We receive your subscription status, not your full payment-card details.

How information is shared

Your data is private to your account and stored securely with Google Firebase (Firestore and Cloud Storage), protected by security rules so only your own account can read it. We may disclose information if required by law. These are the providers that receive data, and what each one gets:

• Google Firebase — hosting, database, sign-in, file storage and notifications. Your data is stored on Google Cloud servers in the United States.
• Anthropic — the AI provider behind the assisted features. When you use one, we send the relevant content: your message, the vehicle details involved, or a photo you take or select, including receipts and vehicle documents. Images are sent in full, so anything legible in the frame goes with them — serial numbers, labels, addresses, prices or handwriting. Anthropic processes this on our behalf and does not use it to train its models. Please do not enter or photograph card numbers, passwords or other sensitive details for these features.
• RevenueCat — manages subscriptions bought inside the app. It receives your account identifier and your subscription status, so we know which plan you are on. It does not receive your name, email address, vehicle data or card details.
• Titan — our email host, which delivers the messages we send you: account emails, maintenance alerts and replies to support tickets. Titan receives your email address and the contents of those messages.

Data retention & your choices

You can edit or delete your vehicles, records, and photos in the app at any time. We keep your data while your account is active. To delete your account and associated data, email us and we'll remove it.

Children

My Car Buddy is a general-audience utility app and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
