Combines and implements too
A combine gets the crop path — rotor bearings, concaves, sieves, sickle sections — because that is what wears in the narrow window it runs. A pull-behind planter or baler has no engine and no meter of its own, so it is seeded against the hours of whatever pulls it, with deliberately coarse intervals rather than a false precision.
